Tree falls on power lines on Thorndike Street in Palmer

PALMER, Mass. (WWLP) – Thorndike Street in Palmer was closed Friday morning after a tree fell down over wires and knocked over a utility pole.

Crews from Verizon and local tree-trimming companies worked all day to restore access but the disruption was felt by nearby Palmer commuters.

“In order to get on the pike you do have to use that. That’s the only way you can get on there,” said one Palmer resident. “You can go through Ludlow, that’s the only way I know.”

Thorndike Street is a main road in the town that connects downtown to the Mass Pike. The road was closed from Converse to Lawrence Street.
